Visitor attractions in Scotland offer an exciting variety with something for everyone. Castles? After all, they have been getting built for over 900 years and there are around 3,000 castles in Scotland.

Some are still lived others are visitor attractions and others are ruins. Castles of Scotland are usually the top attraction with Edinburgh and Stirling Castle at the top.

Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre and Exhibition Culloden Battlefield, Culloden Visitor Centre and Exhibition in Inverness-shire opened in December 2007. The exhibition allows the whole Culloden story to be told in an innovative and interactive way which appeals to all the family. Through recent archaeological and historical research the National Trust for Scotland discovered that the previous centre was sited on the third Government line of the battleground. With the Trust’s resolve to return the Culloden Battlefield to as close as we know it on 16 April 1746, the centre was moved. Previous facilities had struggled to cope with visitor numbers at peak times and its site will be returned to being part of the battleground.

Visit Castle Tioram on Loch Moidart. One of the prettiest location for a historic castle in Scotland. Sitting on its own small rock island, Castle Tioram has a very good strategic position monitoring routes between Loch Sheil and Loch Sunart.

The history of the Glenfinnan Monument goes back to 19th August 1745. Prince Charles Edward Stuart, or ‘Bonnie Prince Charlie’ as he is more commonly known, came ashore on the banks of Loch Shiel on a small rowing boat.
